Egyptian Arabic is the most widely understood dialect across the Arab world, a Moroccan, a Lebanese, and a Saudi all understand Egyptian thanks to Egyptian television and cinema. If you are going to learn only one Arabic dialect, Egyptian gives you maximum reach. In addition, Egyptian phonetics is generally considered more accessible than some Gulf dialects.
Egyptian Arabic has simplified some grammatical rules of Modern Standard Arabic (fewer cases, more regular conjugations), but has also introduced unique vocabulary and its own constructions.
