The Armenian alphabet has 38 letters, slightly more than the Latin alphabet, but it is phonetic and regular. Most learners read fluently within 2 to 3 weeks. Each letter corresponds to a unique sound, with no ambiguity. Our classes start with the alphabet from the very first session because it is the essential foundation.
Eastern Armenian is the official variant of the Republic of Armenia (Yerevan). Western Armenian is the historical variant of the diaspora, notably in France, the United States, and Lebanon, it differs in the pronunciation of several consonants and in some grammatical turns. Both are mutually intelligible in writing, but spoken differences can be surprising. Our teachers teach either variant depending on your objective.
