The platform

Progress in Quechua between classes, at your own pace

Interactive lessons with native audio, vocabulary, dialogues and quizzes. Everything you need to reinforce your skills between live sessions.

The platform

Between classes, you move forward twenty minutes a day

Lessons follow one another in order, with no evening to set aside. Every word is recorded by a native speaker.

  • 179 lessons across 37 modules, from beginner to advanced
  • Native audio on every word, with a slow-down button
  • Your progress is kept, on phone and on computer alike
Audio

You hear the language as it is actually spoken

The recordings are made by native speakers, not by a synthetic voice. The slow-down button separates the sounds when it goes too fast.

  • Every sentence can be played and slowed down
  • The transcription and translation sit under the audio
  • You replay it as many times as you need, with no limit
Quizzes

Every module ends with a quiz, not with a ticked box

You are corrected on the spot, with the explanation. A failed quiz can be retaken, with no penalty and no record.

  • Immediate correction, with the right answer explained
  • An end-of-level test opens the next level
  • A level certificate at the end of the course

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about learning Quechua

Quechua is agglutinative, you add suffixes to a root word to change meaning and grammatical function. There is no grammatical gender, no definite articles, and conjugation is regular. What surprises learners: the word order (SOV, subject-object-verb) and the logic of suffixes. With a native teacher who explains the logic, many learners find the grammar more intuitive than they feared.
Cusco Quechua (from Cusco, Peru) is the most widely taught and documented, it's the academic reference dialect, the one used in Peruvian school curricula and the closest to the classical Quechua of the Incas. If your goal is Bolivia, Bolivian Quechua (from Cochabamba) is preferable. The two are about 80% mutually intelligible. Most of our teachers come from Cusco and Peru.
Absolutely. In the regions of Cusco, Puno, Ayacucho and the Andes in general, many elderly people and rural communities speak more Quechua than Spanish. Even a few phrases of Quechua completely transform the welcome you receive. In Pisac, Chinchero or on Andean markets, speaking Quechua gives you access to a dimension of Peruvian culture that's totally inaccessible to the average tourist.
No, quite the opposite of what people often believe. Quechua is recognized as a co-official language in Peru (alongside Spanish) and Bolivia. Revitalization programs exist at the school level. In Peru, more than 3.7 million people speak it as a native language. The younger Andean generation is showing renewed interest in its linguistic roots. There's even rap and contemporary music in Quechua.
Yes, it's one of the main motivations of our learners. NGOs, cooperation programs, anthropology researchers and social workers learn Quechua to work with Andean communities in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Mastering Quechua is a decisive advantage for any development project in the Andes.

my grandparents are Peruvian and grew up speaking Quechua between themselves. I wanted to understand what they'd say. teacher walked me through the suffix logic — it's a wildly structured language.

Been on Targumi for 3 months. The small group format is exactly what I needed. My teacher takes time to correct accent, it's precious. Made more progress in 3 months than in 2 years of regular apps.

D

What sold me is you actually speak from class one. No 10 hours of theory before opening your mouth. And the platform between classes is well-built, I revise on the morning commute.

S

Honestly I had doubts at first because I'd tried plenty of methods without sticking. This is different, the teacher knows their stuff, adapts to your level, and we have fun on top of it. 6 months in and still motivated.

Really good experience overall, the rhythm between live classes and independent practice is well-balanced. Small note: the mobile app lags sometimes, but the teaching content is well worth the price.

The thing that makes a real difference compared to other platforms: teachers are native and trained. You feel it, especially on accent and everyday expressions you don't learn in textbooks.
