Is Finnish really one of the world's hardest languages?

It appears on the lists of difficult languages for English speakers (FSI Category 4, with 1,100 hours). But its difficulty is often exaggerated: the spelling is 100% phonetic, there's no gender, no articles, and the grammar is very logical once you grasp the agglutinative system. What does Finnish agglutinative grammar look like?

Instead of using prepositions, Finnish adds suffixes to words. For example: 'talo' (house), 'talossa' (in the house), 'talosta' (from the house), 'taloon' (into the house). It is logical and predictable, once the suffixes are learned, you can quickly build complex sentences. It is different from English or French, but not necessarily harder.

Is there a difference between written and spoken Finnish?
