Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the language of the press, official speeches, media, and the Qur'an, understood everywhere but never spoken on the street. Dialects such as Egyptian, Levantine, Moroccan Darija, or Gulf Khaleeji are the languages of daily life, but harder for outsiders.
